Each solution provides information about potential benefits, specific functions to achieve these benefits, applicable business models, driving factors, relevant legal regulations, and expert advices.

Virtual Power Plant

The increasing usage of renewable energy raises the risk of unpredictable energy generation drops or peaks. A virtual power plant reduces these risks by aggregating several small production units.

Urban Emergency Service

The city infrastructure must be able to respond to various challenges including catastrophic events, natural disasters, terrors attacks and further cases of emergencies. For that purpose, an integrated emergency handling system is required which closes the gap between emergency centres and citizens.

Smart Parking

A Smart Parking System makes use of sensors or other technologies to determine the availability of parking lots in cities. This information can be shared with drivers, reducing the time spent on looking for a parking lot, and thus traffic congestion.

Smart Home Video Communication

Especially in less densely populated areas or for less mobile people a video conference system can ease the access to lots of services, such as medical advice, education, government services or judiciary.

Waste collection statistics for individual households

Collecting waste statistics is one sub-solution under the Smart Waste Management measure of Grow Smarter project. It is able to provide feedback to end users on their waste segregation habit. 

Green parking index in combination with car sharing pool with EV

The Green parking index in Stockholm is designed to encourage alternative forms of transport, thus reducing the demand for the private parking places which must be provided when building new and renovating old housing in Stockholm.

Automated waste collecting system

Within the Grow Smarter project in Stockholm, an automated waste collection system has been implemented in an existing neighborhood. The goal is to enable a cost efficient and smart waste solution for residential areas.

Using optical sorting technologies for smart waste collection

Within the Grow Smarter project, optical sorting technologies have been combined with a smart waste collection system to increase waste recycling rates in multi-family residential areas with the possibility of providing feedback to end users on their waste segregation habit.
