Challenge / Goal
Achieving greater sustainability requires the involvement of all relevant players. This project emphasises the role of private initiatives in showcasing sustainable behaviours and efforts, independent of funding. The "Place of Change" brand, marked by uniformly designed signs, aims to increase awareness, particularly for private and often small-scale initiatives, and to encourage others to emulate these practices. In the triad of public administration, businesses, and private individuals, the private sector is now the leading contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. Unlike the public and corporate sectors, which can leverage regulatory measures to induce change, the private sector relies more heavily on persuasive efforts. The "Places of Change" initiative serves as a best practice example in this regard.
Citizen participation
The project relies heavily on citizen engagement and motivation, embodying an approach "by citizens for citizens.".
