Challenge / Goal
The MOB tournament, part of Fondazione Unipolis' MOB—Movement in Revolution—project, aims to raise awareness about sustainable mobility among Generation Z and promote active citizenship. The challenge lies in addressing Scope 3 emissions, which are the hardest to measure and reduce. These emissions include all indirect emissions from an institution’s value chain, notably from home-to-school or work travel. These are deeply influenced by personal habits and behaviours that are difficult to change yet significantly impact urban livability. The MOB tournament offers a platform for adopting responsible mobility behaviours by transforming sustainable mobility into an engaging and measurable experience.
Solution
Using the MUV Game app, participants aged 16 and older from across Italy participated in the MOB Tournament—a competition among Italian high schools that ran from March to May 2023. Participants earn points by engaging in sustainable travel methods such as walking, biking, using public transportation, or carpooling, all tracked via the MUV Game app. The app also provided educational opportunities and allowed players to monitor their performance in real-time through both the app and a web dashboard.
Citizen participation
Students were directly involved by using the MUV Game app for their sustainable journeys and participating in live masterclasses offered online and through the app.
