Confibici, Multiseñal S.A.'s flagship product, is a bollard designed to create bicycle lanes. It is the most widely used in the bicycle lanes of Mexico City, Mexico, and is also used in a bicycle lane in Berlin, Germany.
The objective was to create a bicycle lane along the Avenida de los Insurgentes (also known simply as "Insurgentes"), the longest avenue in Mexico City, to maintain mobility in a safe and sustainable manner by providing sufficient distance during the COVID-19 pandemic. To do this, it was necessary to create a device that would delimit the bike lanes with an innovative design that would have the necessary height to make it dissuasive, preventing vehicles from invading the lane while allowing cyclists access to the bike lane in case of passing over it. A slim design was needed to meet the specific requirements of secondary or tertiary roads, allowing the creation of cycle lanes on narrower roads.
As a provider of solutions for bicycle lanes, Multiseñal was contracted to implement its innovative product, Confibici. Confibici 40 is made of reused, long-lasting and highly resistant materials that can be recycled at the end of their useful life to contribute to the care of the environment. The Confibici 25 is a slimmer version that meets the specific requirements of secondary or tertiary roads, allowing the creation of cycle lanes on narrower roads by preventing vehicles from invading the lane while allowing cyclists access to the cycle lane in case of passing over it. In order to improve the safety of cyclists at night, the device that delimits the bike lanes has a wireless synchronized light system that is powered by solar energy. Both models have angled reflectors to improve visibility and a ribbing to protect them from wear and tear.
