As Chief Executive of the Council, I set about establishing Sligo as a smart city/county destination. With the support of the JASPERS section of the European Investment Bank and the Irish Government Department of Housing, Planning & Local Government, Sligo's Smart City designation was being built on sustainability, good environment, social inclusion and a high-end ICT infrastructure.
