Gabrovo municipality has a territory of 555.579 km² with population of 68 800 people. Gabrovo, located along the Yantra River, is part of trans-European transport corridor № 9. About 20 km up in the mountains, on the area of Uzana Resort, is the geographic center of Bulgaria.
