United Kingdom

In a groundbreaking development, First Bus has unveiled the UK's first autonomous, zero-emission full-size single-decker bus. This eco-friendly marvel, part of the Mi-Link 003 service, is set to redefine public transportation in the country.

Operated by First Bus, the Mi-Link 003 service seamlessly connects commuters between Didcot Parkway train station and the thriving technology and business hub, Milton Park, in Oxfordshire. With over 270 companies and 9,000 employees, Milton Park is a bustling community. This innovative service began operations on September 7, 2023, with 28 seats and operational hours from 07:00 to 18:30, Monday to Saturday. The trial period is scheduled to conclude on September 30, 2023.

One of the primary goals of this program is to substantially reduce carbon emissions through the use of all-electric buses in autonomous mode. During the previous phase, more than 500 trips resulted in savings of nearly 1.5 tonnes of carbon. Safety remains a top priority throughout this journey. A dedicated safety driver will be on board at all times, ensuring passenger safety and providing personalized service and information. This remarkable achievement signals a promising future for cleaner and smarter public transportation in the UK.
