In the framework of the 17th International Conference of the Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technologies in Europe (AAATE), the European Resource Center for Accessibility(AccessibleEU) is organizing a workshop entitled 'Your Role in Making Higher Education More Accessible and Inclusive'. It will take place, in a hybrid face-to-face and online format, on Tuesday, August 29 at Centre de Colloques du Campus Condorcet in Paris.

  • AccessibleEU is one of the key initiatives proposed in the European Commission's Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030. The consortium of this project, led by Fundación ONCE, is formed by the European Network for Accessible Tourism (ENAT), the European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD), the Johannes Kepler Linz University (Austria) and the Spanish Association for Standardization (UNE).
  • The workshop 'Your role in making Higher Education more accessible and inclusive' will be a space for the exchange of knowledge and best practices that will equip the different actors in educational institutions with the tools and knowledge necessary to comply with the fundamental principles of design for all required by European regulations.
  • The main objective is to enable educators to train future representatives of society on how to address the challenges that people with disabilities may encounter in their professional activities.
  • The workshop agenda is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. with an introduction about AccessibleEU and its role in promoting accessibility in higher education at the European level. Participants will include Jesús Hernández Galán, director of Accessibility and Innovation at Fundación ONCE and director of AccessibleEU.
  • This will be followed by three panels on inclusive education for all, good practices in accessibility in university institutions and implementation of accessibility in the university curriculum. The day will conclude with a lunch at 13:30.
