The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, through the area of Technological Innovation and the Department of Parks and Gardens, has completed the installation of the smart irrigation system of the LPA Blue Intelligence strategy, implementing this initiative in 65 parks of the capital of the five districts.

Through the smart irrigation system, it is possible to automate the service in parks, gardens and municipal green areas under sustainability criteria, ensuring rationalization, savings, care for the environment and even the detection of possible anomalies and breakdowns in the system.

Special sensors have also been installed to calibrate the weather conditions and soil humidity, which allow knowing the climatic variables in real time and in an intelligent way. In addition to all this, the overall project includes the installation of three weather stations - with sensors for temperature, humidity, solar radiation, wind speed and direction, precipitation rate, wind speed and direction, and rainfall rate. The project also includes the installation of three weather stations -with sensors for temperature, humidity, solar radiation, wind speed and direction, precipitation rate, atmospheric pressure and 4G connectivity- as well as a remote management system for all irrigation programmers through a digital application and web platform.

This proposal is part of the LPA IA project, which includes 11 initiatives and an initial investment of 8 million, being one of the 14 programs chosen in the second call of Smart Cities of Red.es, which promotes the use of innovative, integrated and efficient technologies in the fields of energy, transport, tourism and the environment.
