Market Fact

Main point: The EU Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities has acknowledged the Climate Action Plans of 10 European cities. These cities have developed comprehensive Climate City Contracts outlining their vision for climate neutrality, along with action plans and investment strategies.

Cities: Sønderborg (Denmark); Mannheim (Germany); Madrid, Valencia, Valladolid, Vitoria-Gasteiz and Zaragoza (Spain); Klagenfurt (Austria); Cluj-Napoca (Romania); and Stockholm (Sweden).

These cities are committed to achieving climate neutrality by 2030 and will have facilitated access to public and private funding. The contracts are created collaboratively with local stakeholders, and upon review by the European Commission, cities receive the EU Mission Label, enhancing their access to funding sources. The European Commission will continue to support cities in implementing their Climate City Contracts, offering funding programs and hands-on advice.
