Amsterdam's new privacy software: 'blurring as a service'
Amsterdam, Amsterdam, Netherlands
Amsterdam has introduced innovative 'blurring as a service' software, prioritizing privacy in public spaces. This tool, integrated into the city's algorithm register, obscures faces and bodies in images, going beyond existing anonymization methods. It also conceals personal attributes like age, gender, and skin color; and also blurs vehicle license plates.
Future plans involve integrating the tool into additional municipal services and allowing anonymization of images submitted by residents. The software code is openly accessible through GitHub, showcasing a dedication to transparency and collaborative innovation.
