Challenge / Goal

The municipality of Tilburg has defined Willem II Straat in their city center as an “innovative street”, where they will implement and test various technologies for city and citizen’s benefit.

Solution

In the pilot project, the municipality and Signify BrightSites have worked together to arrive at a new concept for digital infrastructure. Using the lighting infrastructure as a digital network, they have a wireless infrastructure that enables flexible and cost-effective installation of 4G/5G , Wi-Fi, cameras and various city IOT (water sensors for plants, waste bin sensors etc.). All this without trenching for data cables. Invisible, fast and flexible.

Citizen participation

The team organized an information evening through letter to collect questions and concerns, and informed the citizens.
