Challenge / Goal
Connectivity infrastructure is cruicial to economic success, from streamlining and automating processes to helping drive up GVA. The Digital Catapult initiative to support UK businesses using LPWAN technologies involved setting up a free to use LoRaWAN™ and Sigfox network and platform, enabling UK businesses to prototype new products and services, scale up and bring solutions to market. The programme has been hugely successsful with local companies advancing production of low cost IOT devices for the global market.
Solution
This use case partnered solution designers with challenge owners and set them on a course for co-designing and developing solutions that were not readily available on the market thus encouraging truely innovative solutions for unmet needs.
It also held a number of design led workshops with partners from a number of vertical industries including Mobility, Tourism, Circular Economy, Health and Smart Buildings to better understand some of the industry pain points that might be solved using IOT.
