Challenge / Goal
Ettelbruck, a city of around 9000 inhabitants, is a principal economic center of northern Luxembourg. The city witnesses a strong daily influx of visitors, amongst them students, workers and tourists. Part of this daily movement involves an average of 20,000 cars entering the city.
The major concerns the city was facing in terms of traffic management were:
Difficulties in finding parking spaces
Traffic congestion
Carbon emissions
Noise pollution
Solution
The city deployed 32 UPCITI sensors enabling real-time monitoring of 954 of its 1700 parking spaces.
The collected data is transmitted to RMS.lu, an enterprise based in Ettelbruck that processes the data.
The information is then transmitted to the users via 34 panels installed across various point in the city, which display the number of parking places available in each of the 8 parking lots, and in real-time via the website of the Ville d'Ettelbruck.
