Challenge / Goal
The challenge of installing an IoT noise sensor project with light alert and automatic police notification involves selecting strategic locations, establishing appropriate noise thresholds, and ensuring a robust connectivity infrastructure. In addition, it is necessary to address privacy and data protection issues, involve relevant experts and authorities, and perform continuous testing and adjustments to ensure the effectiveness of the system.
Solution
Three squares in the city are identified where groups of people tend to gather on weekends, during the evenings, and can therefore unintentionally disturb the neighbors. We establish dB thresholds with the local police and give them access to the online platform with the historical data.
How does it work?
- If the threshold is exceeded for 2 - 5 full minutes, the blue light will go off warning the noise emitters (measure ambient noise if they screech 2s does not go off).
- If they remain the same. When the thresholds are exceeded for 20min, 30min or 60min an alert will be sent to the mail or via SMS.

Citizen participation
The implementation of the noise sensors with light alerts project has had a positive impact by reducing excessive noise, improving the quality of life of residents, and maintaining public order. In addition, it has raised awareness about the impact of noise and promoted responsible behavior in the community. Overall, the project has achieved significant results in improving the noise environment and safety in the locality.
