Challenge / Goal

The municipality aims to address environmental issues sustainably and scientifically. The spectrum ranges from limit value monitoring and climate protection to traffic management, citizen information and an environmental information system

Solution

Kirchheim in cooperation with Hawa Dawa established a measurement network. The data is made available as reports and interfaces proving the basis for digital monitoring of air quality in the municipal area. The interface (API) can transfer the data to other systems without media discontinuity.

There are currently three Hawa-Dawa air quality sensors in use in the municipal area. The first two measuring devices were installed in mid-2019 at the Florianstraße/St2082 intersection at the at the height of the OMV and at Kirchheimer Ei. Since April 2020, there has also been a sensor at the junction of Heimstettener Straße and Münchner Straße in the centre of Kirchheim. The Hawa-Dawa sensors measure the concentration of ozone (O3); nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and particulate matter in the 2.5 and 10 µm size classes respectively. (PM2.5, PM10).
