Challenge / Goal

The city and port want to optimise the collective transport network and link the city with the port area.

Furthermore, not all parts of the city are accessible yet by public transport. Efforts will be made to expand and promote the public transport network in and around the city.

Solution

Many companies in the port area have their private collective buses. To organise this in a more efficient way and to offer a more frequent service, the Port of Antwerp is working together with the companies to create an integrated collective transport network.

New tram lines and bus hubs are being installed. Train, tram and bus are being promoted. The train service in and around the city and port is further being developed into a regional express network. Furthermore, a combined system of (season) tickets for public transport is implemented.
