Challenge / Goal

The City of Gabrovo has implemented several energy efficiency measures to improve the ecological environment in Gabrovo. The measures in this Use Case include construction of a new natural gas boiler room in  „Zora“ nursery and replacement of the internal heating installation in the High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences "Acad. Ivan Gyuzelev". The goal of the Use Case is to improve the life quality in Gabrovo.

Solution

1. Replacement of the internal heating installation of the High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences "Acad. Ivan Gyuzelev" – academic, administrative and service corps

All heaters have been replaced with aluminium radiators. The heat output is designed based on already implemented energy saving measures in the building envelope of these corps. А valve with а thermostatic head is mounted on every single radiator. The temperature in the heated room саn be regulated by it. А new pipe network of steel pipes has been built with surface mounting. This will increase the effective operation of the internal heating system of the classrooms and offices, administrative and service corps. The heat exchange station in the basement of the main corp is preserved. lt is connected to the existing boiler located in the hull of the gym and pool. This part of the heating system was renovated in the previous period. The circulation of the coolant in each separate branch is provided bу standalone circulator. А panel for automatic adjustment of the circulation pump with а weekly set program is mounted, including anti-frost mode. 

2. Fuel switch in „Zora“ nursery 

An extension to the house of the creche groups has been built in which a new boiler BIASI - model RCB 2S300 with capacity 300 kW was installed. The boiler is working with a combined burner model - RIELLO RLS 38 for liquid and gas fuel. It will primary use natural gas. The liquid fuel is an alternative. The boiler is connected to the internal heating installation by newly installed distribution collectors. The circulation of the coolant in each branch of the heating system is ensured by a separate circulation pump. A panel for automatic settings of the circulation pumps including anti-frost mode was mounted. A yard underground pipeline has been constructed. Job security of the gas supply system is provided by a mounted sensor and a gas detection system associated with an emergency ventilation system.
