MAHLE chargeBIG were tasked with creating charging infrastructure with intelligent load management, using the existing grid connection effectively and thus removing the need to invest in a new transformer. Another aim of the process was to integrate Photovoltaic energy into this infrastructure for charging electric vehicles.
Additionally, the airport wanted operational charging points, not just for their own fleet, but also for public users.
By purchasing a chargeBIG charging system, Stuttgart Airport has opted for a low-cost solution from MAHLE for the electrification of its employee and vehicle fleet parking spaces. It is thus making optimal use of its existing infrastructure rather than needing to invest extensively in the expansion of its grid connection.
