Challenge / Goal

Tel Aviv, Israel, is building new metro lines. Due to the ongoing construction, some parts of the city are closed to private cars and public vehicles, mainly buses. This has created an issue for the people living in the area as well as people who come to the area for visting or shopping. One of the main streets, Alenby Street, has been largely impacted. Therefore, the Tel Aviv municipality is looking for a solution to still close the street as needed but at the same time to enable the residents along and near the street to get in and out effectively and efficiently. As this is a shopping area, it is also important to enable the shoppers and businesses there to continue their operation.

To address this challenge, Carteav has proposed its autonomous low speed vehicle as a solution. It is capable of transporting up to 6 people at a time and only requires narrow lanes in order to navigate, which can be done despite the construction. The vehicle is electric, so it reduces dramatically the current pollution and it is slow and safe for the passengers.

Citizen participation

As this plan is still in its very early stages, it has not yet been brought to citizens for broader-scale feedback collection and engagement.
