About the Urban Impact Lab — The Urgency Edition:
Cities today are grappling with compounding challenges — from skyrocketing housing costs and climate-related disasters to economic shocks, social fragmentation, and the growing pressure to deliver services with limited resources. Urban leaders must navigate these challenges while maintaining economic vitality, social cohesion, and trust in governance. Addressing such complex issues requires more than ambition; it demands practical leadership, collaboration, and bold innovation.
The Urban Impact Lab — Urgency Edition, taking place in partnership with Smart City Expo World Congress 2025, is designed to spark honest conversations and help cities tackle these challenges head-on. This high-level, hands-on forum brings together policymakers, elected officials, city practitioners, innovators, and industry experts to connect across sectors — including mobility, energy, data, governance, and emerging technologies — and co-create practical solutions for today’s most pressing urban challenges.
The event takes place at an inspiring location set up as a DMI Centre Pop-Up — a dedicated meeting space for partners, curated by the Dutch Metropolitan Innovations (DMI) ecosystem. Together, this setting and the Innovation Lab programme create a unique platform to strengthen networks, build new partnerships, and advance solutions for sustainable urban development and resilience. This is not just an event — it’s a collaborative effort to inspire action, share what works, and shape the future of our cities.
