Bable, a German supplier of products and services for the development of Smart Cities, has announced the expansion of its operations in Spain, with the opening of an office in the city of Barcelona in the final stretch of 2021.
In this way, the European platform for the Smart Cities market lands in Spain to promote the growth of a high potential sector, providing the necessary tools to take actions to the next level.
"The current challenges faced by cities require unconventional responses that, through innovation, provide effective solutions, maximising the use of resources. The smart solutions paradigm and market has facilitated the design and implementation of projects that do more with less and, at the same time, exploit the possibility of understanding and reacting to the environment in real time. However, the challenge for smart cities still lies in taking pilot projects to scale" said Gretel Schaj.
In order to respond to these challenges, BABLE has created a platform for the Smart Cities sector, which "serves as a meeting, discovery and promotion space for those working to improve urban life through innovation", according to the director of the Spanish subsidiary.
This digital community allows actors to "showcase their use cases, promote their products, connect with European experts and municipalities, establish strategic alliances, and keep up to date with the latest innovations in the market", Schaj concludes.

BABLE GmbH has appointed Gretel Schaj as the new Director for Spain, who will coordinate the company's actions in Spain, defining its strategy and accompanying the public and private sector in the development and implementation of smart urban solutions.
Gretel Schaj specialises in the organisational and governance aspects of digital transformations and the data economy in cities. She has extensive experience working with governmental, non-profit and private organisations, especially at the local level, both in Latin America and Europe. Gretel Schaj holds a degree in International Relations from the Catholic University of Córdoba (Argentina) and a Master in Environmental Governance from the University of Freiburg (Germany).
