Challenge / Goal
Vila‑real sought to cut congestion around its historic centre, make public transport more attractive and guarantee equitable access to parking—especially for blue‑badge users—all while progressing towards local CO₂‑reduction targets. The goal was to give residents and visitors real‑time information on buses, parking and points of interest, thereby reducing cruising traffic, shortening waiting times and improving the overall urban experience.
Solution
- Connect existing data feeds – integrate bus GTFS‑RT, parking‑bay sensors, barrier counts and the municipal POI database into the Thinkz platform.
- Apply Live Data Verification – filter inaccuracies and flag anomalies in sub‑minute intervals.
- Publish multi‑channel outputs – deploy a white‑label web map, dashboard widgets and open APIs for third‑party apps.
- Launch communication campaign – QR codes at bus stops and parking meters, local press, social media and tourism kiosks.
- Monitor & iterate – track KPI dashboards (CO₂, search time, first‑attempt parking success) and refine routing logic every quarter.
Citizen participation
Residents and visitors accessed the browser‑based web app via QR codes placed at bus stops, parking meters and tourism kiosks. By simply scanning a code, they could view live bus ETAs, parking availability and attraction details, and submit optional feedback through the app—no downloads or workshops required.
