Distributed Generation - PV system installation
Linked Projects
Challenge / Goal
The main challenge from the project was to increase energy efficiency for the residents of Tepebaşi. The conditions pf the city are favourable, as there is a:
• High technical potential (average 1500 kWh/a per 1 kWp installed capacity);
• Available space (roof and carport area);
• Municipality knowledge and previous experience on PV system installation;
Solutions
Building integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) is the integration of photovoltaics (PV) into the building envelope. The PV module serves the dual function of power generator and replacement of conventional building envelope materials. BIPV systems can provide savings in materials and electricity costs, reduce use of fossil fuels and emission of ozone depleting gases, and add architectural interest to the building. It will have a total capacity of 150 kWe, will produce 240 MWh/year electricity which yields 125454 kgCO2e reduction.
