Challenge / Goal

The use case is an application of gaming technology (Unity) to real world problems.

Solution

The data visualization platform is a collection of tools to visualize data from a range of sources in different ways (e.g. VR, AR, 2D maps). The data visualization platform enables users to engage with data in a user friendly way.

The visualisation platform allows for the viewing of data from various sources in different “canvases”. These canvases could include virtual reality, augmented reality, 360 degree video or traditional 2d. The first implementation of the visualisation platform focuses upon virtual reality and demonstrating how a virtual world of the Manchester Corridor can be created and traversed – moving from a traditional Google Maps view to a virtual environment.
