Challenge / Goal

The Tepebaşı district, with 41.24% of the total population of Eskişehir wanted to reduce its carbon footprint. The main challenge needed to be addressed here was a reducton in carbon emissions. The highlighted way to ensure this was through an increase in energy savings and a promotion of sustainable behaviour, especially in the form of carbon neutral public transport usage. This resulted in a further challenge, how best to motivate citizens in this process.

Solution

A cloud platform which receives information from building energy sensors, E-buses and E-bikes. It combines them with external factors such as weather information and provides citizens and municipalities with dashboards on energy consumption, forecasts, E-bus routes, E-bike availability and status.

Third party developers are able to design and develop their own added value applications. The tool also aims at raising awareness of carbon emissions and energy saving and at changing citizens behaviour through gamification.
