Each Use Case contains a list of achieved benefits, driving factors, financial information, advices for replication and links to relevant Solutions and the implemented Products. There is also the opportunity to contact the BABLE users who participated in implementing and managing the Use Case.

With the aim to improve the sharing of green mobility solutions, 3-5 sharing cars are operated by several contractors in Strijp-S, Eindhoven.

Switching from steam based to water...
Steam pipes were changed to district heating based on water as energy transmitter. The power is supplied via a biomass power plant owned by the municipality.

Public Wi-Fi
The goal of the use case is to provide open free Wi-Fi to inhabitants and visitors of Strijp-S.

16 bikes were operated by HopperPoint as a service for visitors, workers and inhabitants in Strijp-S.

In Eindhoven, Vinotion implemented a system to do traffic measurement which would help to redefine spatial planning, create safer situation and lower traffic throughput through the city center using an overview camera with real time artificial intelligence using low power hardware.

Live laB TOOLKIT FOR Participatory...
The Strijp-S district in Eindhoven was used as a testing ground for a 2 week process to organise public consultation using integration of multiple information technologies. The Live Lab, a virtual and physical platform for sharing knowledge and ideas was used to co-create a green square in Strijp.

With the aim of reducing energy consumption by 20% in the existing office buildings in Strijp-S, an innovative concept has been developed to optimise energy consumption while maintaining user comfort. The system allows interactive monitoring and control of HVAC system via mobile application.

In order to promote use of Electric Vehicles and better manage the charging infrastructure,a smart charging system was developed. 6 Type-2 AC chargers installed in Strijp-S with two charging point. Peak load management system/charging management system is included in the project.

Smart City Data Platform
To support with real time data integration in Smart Cities, a Smart City Data platform has been developed which enables faster integration of data. The data and governance layer have been separated to provide ownership to the data owners.

Fibre Optic Infrastructure...
Strijp-S is built as a smart data driven area and hence, needed a strong data backbone. 500km of Fibre Optic(Backbone) cables have been installed in ducts in the Strijp-S district (68 acres) for improving connectivity in the area. The Fibre Optic network acts as a Backbone for data related service.

Parking Management System
With the vision of transforming the parking policy from normative numbers, a more demand driven optimum solution was developed using ICT technologies to improve the user experience. The system is aimed at increasing the occupancy of parking lots.

Unidirectional functional lighting...
Unidirectional functional lighting has been installed on a walking path at a pond in Eckart. The special type of lights only shine towards the path and not on the pond to not disturb the local fauna.10 of the 30 poles are equipped with sensors that dim the light according to the usage of the path.

Renovation of semi-attached homes...
The Use Case aims to involve tenants in the process of renovating and maintaining homes owned by the social housing association Woonbedrijf. The digital 3D-tool WoonConnect allows tenants to see the effects of their behaviour (i.e. showering, heating) and the expected results of the renovation.

Sustainable Energy Supply by Soil...
SANERGY is a low-cost system which aims at purifying soil in combination with extracting energy from groundwater using heat pumps in the Strijp-S district in Eindhoven.

Smart Lighting in Strijp-S -...
The project involved equipping light poles with multi-colour LEDs allowing interactive control of individual lights. This enables a variety of services such as: guiding people through different lighting, seasonal lighting programs for increased comfort, safety control via sound sensors.

Public Sound Sensor Safety Project
The Public Sound Sensor Safety Project consists of sound sensors in the public space that are attached to the smart light poles in the area. This enables to detect specific sounds such as fighting and sound levels in bars or cafes in the main bar street in Eindhoven.
