Use Cases
Shared e-mobility system in Milan
Milan’s shared e-mobility system includes: e-cars, e-bikes, e-logistics vehicles, smart parking, e-vehicle charging, and condominium e-car sharing.

Smart lamp posts
Milan is exploring how a range of sensors and services can be added to lamp posts to transform them into a smart infrastructure for the city, demonstrating how smart technology can add value to people’s lives. The goal was to improve the efficiency of energy use in public lighting.
Sustainable Energy Management Service (SEMS)
This measure involves the development of an advanced, data-rich, management system which gains maximum benefits from the retrofitted buildings, sharing energy data through the open platform enabling energy services to be provided that reduce energy use and bills.
Sharing Cities Urban Sharing Platform (USP)
The Sharing Cities Urban Sharing Platform is a logical collection of technical components, capabilities and processes which provide functions and services that enable a Smart City.

Building Retrofit
Milan aims to address deep energy retrofit of the residential building stock, both public and private to save until 60-70% energy consumption and improve comfort inside dwelling.
Cities
Sharing Cities offers products and services for these Smart City Solutions

Smart Lighting
Smart streetlights enable the reduction of running expenses associated with public lighting by delivering several value-added services to cities and citizens.

Building Energy Management System
The majority of public funding on energy efficiency within the EU is proposed for the building sector. The federal funds in that sector add up to €5.4 billion in 2014. One way to increase the energy efficiency of buildings is to implement a building energy management systems (BEMS).

Public Charging System for Electric Vehicles
The current EU regulation on emissions for cars is the strictest worldwide. Along with further restrictions the thresholds cannot be meet with conventional cars only anymore. One alternative technology, reducing the local emissions, are electric vehicles.

Vehicle Sharing System
Vehicle sharing systems allow customers to use various vehicles without owning them. There are different types of vehicle sharing systems on the market. Differences can be the vehicle shared, like car sharing, bike sharing, scooter sharing or electric vehicle sharing.

Urban Data Platform
Urban data platforms build the basis for a multitude of applications in a Smart City. An urban data platform intends to map, store and integrate data from different stakeholders of the Smart City ecosystem.

Virtual Power Plant
The increasing usage of renewable energy raises the risk of unpredictable energy generation drops or peaks. A virtual power plant reduces these risks by aggregating several small production units.
