Source of Funding: Initiated by the Ministry of the Interior, Digitisation and Migration, leading partners from the fields of local and state administration, innovation and education have bundled their competences in the Digitalakademie@bw.
The Digitalakademie@bw develops new formats and solutions to support communities, districts and regions in Baden-Württemberg for digital transformation. As an interdisciplinary joint project, it promotes qualification, innovation, knowledge transfer and cultural change.

Intelligent waste management system in Ludwigsburg
Owing to the Sustainability strategy of the city of Ludwigsburg, the municipality aims at optimizing the waste collection routes in the city. As a pilot project the city has installed cameras with inbuilt sensors in the 15 waste bins across the city.

Municipality Welcome Manager (L2B2 Service Robot) in Ludwigsburg
The service robot in our Bürgerbüro is an example of how we test digital applications in everyday life. It is the first information point for citizens visiting the city hall and helps increase the working efficiency of the city hall.

The SmartHome app allows tenants to turn off all electrical appliances and lights at any time and from anywhere. This can be done easily at home or on the move. In combination with smart plugs (Smart Meter), tenants can keep track of the current energy consumption of any connected devices.

A Big Data Management Application, called Urban Cockpit has been implemented in the city of Cologne to provide a fast and easy overview of the data stored in the Urban Data Platform. It includes data from traffic management systems , energy providers and other such companies.

Location-based marketing as part of the Smart City App Reutlingen
The smartphone applications provides local businesses and restaurants with the opportunity to market offers towards visitors and inhabitants based on geo-localisation technology. The scheme was rolled out within the historic city center of Reutlingen.
