The Helsinki Regional Transport Authority is the inter-municipal authority that maintains the public transportation network of the nine municipalities of Greater Helsinki, Finland. HSL oversees the operation of all of Helsinki's public transportation. The system consists of local buses, trams, metro trains, ferries, commuter trains, and bike-share.

Smart City/Region Status: In recent years, Helsinki Regional Transport has been rapidly incorporating and investing in ''smart'' transportation aspects within its system. The HSL is using smart data to improve the accessibility and efficiency of Helsinki's bus systems as part of the global initiative for intelligent transport of which they have been part since 2017.
